I think a patio aviary would even be big enough for that amount.. You could alway's buy a patio one off Ebay..

do your parents ahve a garden shed they dont use for much that you could transform? I made my aviary from a garden shed (bought it new though) 8foot by 8 foot, that was for the enclosure, then i made a flight and attached it to the shed I know you dont want it so big, but you can also get sheds a lot smaller, and cut out the front part and fit in mesh for the light and viewing. (make sure you put a safety door inside though so that you dont have any escapees lol

wow thats a nice avairy dawn. here is one hubby built.. Its a two part avairy, but I am going to take the middle out and rewire it so I can have a colony of budgies and tiels. It may be abit big for what you want, but you can always down size it to the one part avairy.

Aww thanks Judy. I love it because i made it all by myself, (very stubborn and independant), which meant balancing wood on my head whilst i screwed it together lol, I did say to meg last week that i would like to extend it upwards maybe but he just groaned lol. Yours looks great too, do you get snakes where you are Judy is that why it is raised? Can't remember who it was or if it was on one of the old sites i used to go on, but i remember someones bird getting eaten by a snake can't remember who it was though

yep I get the rotten carpets. I have moved the avairy away from the fence and that is why Im rewiring it lol. There is also a special net you can get from bunnings or a hardware shop that will capture snakes on the ground. I will be getting it when I set the birds up again.

must be awful and scary to think you may come across a snake in the aviary or surrounding areas, personally i love snakes but that is when they are in a controlled place lol. Can you remember reading it anywhere on here about that member who lost a bird to the snake? I bet Karen will when she comes back on, it's doing my head in cos i need to know now lol

Ok Thanks everyone. Me and my dad are going to the wood yard (luckily just down the road) tomorow and see how much it would cost to make an aviary in the style of BuuzBee's. also does anyone know where you can buy big rolls of wire mesh as i have had no look finding any, thanks.

DIY shops like B & Q do it, wilkinsons also do it, also some little handyman shops will do it. Or another thought seeing as your a yorkshire lad, do you have a 'No frills' over there? cos they will be cheaper than B & Q if they do it. Just a thought/tip Don't forget to build the bottom up a bit, then mice dont get through, thats why i built mine with wood 1/3rd way up even though mice can climb lol i thought if they cant see the seed that gets dropped (I do clean it up daily) but maybe they wont try get in, and so far so good
