hi all, if i,v already posted this info then just ignore me i don't know whether its on the board or not i cant find it. angel is heaps better, my new bird will be sharing a cage with her hopefully Billie but its huge so i hope they will be OK, if not then i,ll keep them separate. angel is obviously feeling better as she has been mute till half six this morning when she seemed to find her voice!! and oh what a voice!!!!! she woke the whole house up bless her my two year old thought it was great! its the first time i,v heard a peep out of her! must be making up for lost time lol. anyway as always keep you posted and will hopefully get some pics on next week ttfn Jo x
hi all sorry i,v been off for a while BT have been messing my Internet up. good news my angel is ok! even the vet was shocked i,m sure he thought she was a goner. her wings have scabbed over but are still not fully healed, she,s an amazing character and a real fighter i,m so proud of her. oh and this bird business is addictive i,m picking a friend up for her on wednesday i think its a Rosella? its twice the size of her and the most amazing blue red coulor, its also hand tame and says a few words its costing me hundred an eighty, i just hope they get on!! will keep you posted an hopefully will get some picks of them both on soon. thankyou all for you,r get well wishes jo
hi all good news, my baby's getting better! been to the vets this morning and even the vets amazed!. i,m so chuffed. she is still quite poorly but is back on her pirch now and eating, (well she,s eating grapes nothing else but its a start). went local pet superstore this morn and bought her lots of toys, i even found a bird pinatta!!!. wish me luck with that one lol. anyway will keep you all posted ttfn Jo
why do people get away with treating birds like crap? pulled my neighbor before about the bird being ill and her response was that its just a bird!! oooooooww!! anyway she managed some water before with a little help from a dropper, and even had a bit of grape so everything still crossed. keep everyone posted x
hi all, remember my ill treated baby? well got up for work at six this morning and she was on bottom of cage barley able to stand. i got her to the emergency vet straight away and he has given her a couple of jabs but seems to think she will be better at home as it will be less stressful for her. basically its just wait and see, i think all the stress has just got on top of her. the vet didn't hold out much hope, but i,m not giving up on her. she loves red grapes so am going out this aft and buying her the best red grapes i can find. will keep you posted on any developments. Jo
yes sorry, she,s called manic. sounds odd i know but the reason is the holiday park i take my kids to every year has a parrot puppet called manic, so my ten year old son named her. will keep all informed of our vet trip on wed and you are right, these birds are addictive i,v had her since wed and am already planning my next.... lol
yes thats exactly what she looks like! she do,sent have the ring round her neck so must be female, is she a variety of parakeet? if not what group would you class her in? i,m so glad i can finally get some info on her, i wanted a Friend for her, was going to get another parakeet is this a good or bad idea? she seems very intelligent and i want whats best for her. i have had budgies before but i,m talking years ago when i was a child so am like a sponge at the min soaking up any info that is going to make her life easier. thanx for the pic too
hi again, still not sure what it is, my neihbour swears its a parakeet, must admit it is the same size shape ect.. its bigger than a cockateil bright yellow with a red beak, but not as big as an african grey parrot, maybe in between that and a cockateil. will put a pic up in a few weeks when she,s more settled. dont want the flash to scare her she,s been through enough. i will let you know after she has seen the vet on wed. either way i,v tottally fallen in love with her and hopefully between me and the vet we can get her sorted, and give her the life she deserves.
8-)hi guys, i,m new but furious and need advice. my neihbour recently aquired a yellow parakeet, gorgeous bird looks like an enormous canary!! she had said bird roughly two and half weeks, all i heard was her shouting at the bird to f*****g shut up. when i asked how she was going with it she told me i could buy it off her for hundred pounds or she was going to let it go. bought the bird in a budgie cage wich was obviously way to small, went out next day and spent nearly three hundred on a parrot cage toys food ect.. the bird was so scared evry time i went near its cage it screamed, it never bit me but made a major fuss flapping its wings and making noise. after acouple of days i could gently put my hands in cage to feed ect so long as i was slow and diddent alarm her. its just that i,v now noticed it looks like someone has tried clipping her wings, i,v had hold of her and so long as she has a cover over her head she will let me look at the wounds, and they are awfull!! whoever has done it has made a real mess it must be so sore and painfull, they are both bad but the left more than the right bleeding if she knocks them and also when she preens. i have her in a specialist vets on wednesday but just woundering if there is anything i should do in the meantime? i live in a city and parakeets are classed as exotic pets so vets are few and far between. she does seem more settled in the three days i,v had her but to see her in pain is hard what should i do? gratefull for any advice jo
i was hoping to put them togehter yes, i got my rosella this morning and the cage comes this aft, the rosella is semi tame and they have had the run of the living room all morning, they seem to be getting on fine even eating together. i do have my ringnecks old cage still just in case. is there a reason i shouldent have them together? the rosella is a lot bigger than my ringneck. what do you advise?
hi all i have a indian ringneck and am getting a rosella on wed (cant wait). just woundering how big should their cage be? i am buying a parrot cage with my new bird on wed they are being deliverd together, the shop say its big enough for an african grey, but i know my rosella likes to spread his wings. if i could i would not have them caged and let them fly free but as we know this is not feesable. will my new cage be big enough for the both of them? also giving them the space they need? jo
