Lol! He is so oblivious as to what's about to happen to him.

They grow up so fast.
How old is Noodles now? Be careful how you react to him. What starts as just an adolescent phase can turn into a real behavioral problem. Hopefully he'll snap out of this soon! I know how painful bites to the face can be. Mr. Molly gave me a good one a few months ago but thankfully he hasn't done it since.

Aww look at her! She will grow up and train under Pika to be a Budgie Guard I'm sure. Speaking of that, I didn't post the link to those pictures here. I think I'll do that now.

I'm so proud of Pika! He's been making laps across the room and he's flying FOR FUN. This is exciting because neither of my 'tiels have done this before. I've been working with them by gently tossing them into the air and Pika especially enjoyed this. Now he finally realizes it's fun for him to do it by himself too! I'm so happy.

It depends on the bird, really. A lot of them LOVE to play fetch. They drop something and you pick it up! LOL. Pika (cockatiel) and I play a whistle game now but he's the one who came up with it. He does the first note of the wolf whistle and I finish it with the second note. Or I do the first and he does the second. He gets so excited!! You can teach them peek a boo too. Put a cover over one side of the cage, pull it back and say peek a boo! Repeat, and watch your bird either quiver with delight or stare at you like you've lost your mind. Piper (budgie) loves to playfight like a litte kitten. She'll chase after my fingers and nibble them when she catches up. Then my hand "attacks" her. Of course, this could easily freak out a bird so I've always let her initiate that sort of play.

The weather here would kill aviary birds. And I like mine inside with me. (So they can drive me crazy with their mess and noise...)

Yeah, way expensive but it would probably last for a LONG time. I found it on the actual King's site for $275 so that's slightly better.

Someone pointed this out to me and it's so perfect. This is the first double cage I've seen that stacks vertically (rather than side to side), is the proper bar spacing, and provides tons of space in both sections. It has slide out trays AND grills, large doors, a stand on wheels, it's powder coated and it's a Kings Cage and I'm so in love. It is PERFECT. I could have the budgies on top, 'tiels in the bottom (just as I do now only more space!!) I'm going to get it. I don't know when as Richard and I are in serious saving mode right now due to the possible move. And then there's the fact that I have no clue how much it would cost to ship that thing overseas if I move. But I muuust have this cage (a.s.a.p.)!! Click!

Sparky's so cute! It's always nice to see pictures of her. Er...him? Looks like a her to me though. How has the taming gone? Any luck? Looks like he/she's enjoying himself though!

Thanks both of you for the replies and warm thoughts.
We've had blood drawn three times this week and he's had four urine tests. Everything comes back excellent though on the last urine test they said he was a bit dehydrated. Since then I've told him he'd better attach his sippy cup to his face and I bought him some popsicles to get a little more fluid into him. It's nearly 3 a.m. and I haven't heard him stirring so maybe (just maybe) he'll actually sleep through the night.
I've been suspicious as to if it might be at least partly psychological. His mother just started coming around again and I can imagine his stress; he can't know when she'll disappear again so that may have something to do with it. He didn't know anything about my plans to move so that can't be it. Actually, the only thing I've talked about lately in regards to that is Richard moving here. (Change of plans, he's going to come to America; we're starting the paper work when he's here in two weeks and getting ready for the long long long wait.)
He does have trouble at school in a way as he seems to have a learning disability and he has a really bad speech impediment. Then again, he's only in his first year of "real" school so it's still fun to him and he doesn't seem to dislike going. In fact, he tried to go on Friday and was sent home sick by the nurse. He really seemed to want to go though and appeared to be feeling ten times better so I took him and left instructions for them to let me know if things didn't go well. Obviously, they didn't.
My sleeping schedule is so messed up that I think I'll wait another hour to see if he stirs and then get some sleep. If he doesn't wake up with pain it will be a very good sign! If he does... I have NO clue where to go from here. The ER doctors always do and say the same exact things. They take blood, they take urine, they pronounce him fine and then they send him off. Ugh. I won't even get into yesterday morning's fiasco at the ER. I'll just say that I wasn't happy with anyone that day. Not the nurses, the doctors, my mother, OR the college kids hanging out in the ER talking about their holidays in Vegas instead of working.

I know I've been pretty inactive here lately (compared to usual at least) but I've had sick kids (neice and nephew) to deal with. It's been rough, to say the least. Still no idea what's wrong with Marco and every single doctor we see keeps telling us it's just a stomach bug. But I've never seen a stomach virus wake a small child at 4 a.m. with back pain every night. It's unsettling. But he does seem to be improving, as is my neice. At least what she had was easily diagnosed as a respiratory infection and it's clearing up pretty fast. Ugh. I don't think I'll ever have my own kids. It's too scary when they get sick. We have literally taken Marco to a doctor every single day this week save for one. One day he even went twice. Keep him in your thoughts please. I hope it IS just a stomach virus and we're completely overreacting. He does seem to be getting a little better. Pets are a great distraction so I snapped a lot of pictures yesterday. There are a lot so it may take a while to load. You can see them here: community.livejournal.com/parrot_lovers/1718182.htmlThere is also an update on Mr. Molly.
