It's going to be tough to make this post short but I'll do my best!! First of all, Pixel was "attacked" by my dog the other night. ): She got out of the cage while I was away and my dog found her before anyone else. Thankfully, I think Mitzi just tried to play with her. Obviously, Pixel was still hurt but we found her alive and got her to the vet the next days. She's on 14 days of antibiotics and pain medication and is expected to make a full recovery. The vet also checked out her wing and said that the old injury healed odd but it shouldn't be causing her any pain. It was just aggravated by the incident with the dog. Already, she's got new fluffs on her back and she's been digging into her well-deserved seed treats. It was my fault for forgetting to clip one of the cage doors shut and that's not something I'll be doing again ever. Here is Pixel in the recovery cage, poor thing:
Annnd yesterday Richard and I (we are engaged now, by the way!!) went to Petsmart and I ended up with a baby budgie. to make a long story short, we went in for pellets and wheatgrass and I saw a budgie I had fallen in love with earlier in the week. When we left, I realized we'd forgotten the wheat grass. Richard insisted I wait in the warm car and when he came out, he had the baby budgie I loved so much with him!! His name is Pippin (Pip for short) and here are some pictures of him.
I'm pretty sure he's actually a type 2 yellowface doublefactor dominant pied (maybe recessive...) but the yellow doesn't show up in these pictures on my monitor. It may show up for some of you though.
And because my biggest worry about adding to the flock is cage space, Richard is getting me this cage after Pip's quarantine is up. Hopefully they'll all get along in there! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
