How do I tell if a kak is young? What do I look for? Its hard to tell the young from old I can only give advice on green kaks/pied. The main indication of a younger bird is the beak. If you look at the following pic, /\ click to zoom in! dad on the left has a silver colour beak with black tip. baby on the right(9/10 weeks) the beak is still pink at the top. Also around the nostrils is usually the last the last part get the red feathers(also in pic),i would think this last bit would go for yellow/cinnamons to. but as there beaks stay pink the first bit wont help . If you can get hold of the bird to look, lift the wings and look for the fluffy down feathers. my baby has still got them at 10 weeks. hope this makes sense and helps out a bit.

not that anyone cares, since no one coments, i'll go cry later... she laid egg #3 yesterday. She's still not sitting on them, but sylvester is in & out of the box with her. hopefully he is showing her what to do! i'll show interest Buzz, did she end up sitting on the eggs??

A fid is a hand tool made from wood or bone and is used in the process of working with rope. It is conical instrument with a somewhat long taper. A variety of fid diameters are used depending on the size of rope it is being used with. i found that on google too Doesn't relate to birds though does it..
