It's been so long since I've visited that I thought I'd better do an introduction. My flock has changed somewhat since my last visit. I am now owned by:
Eclectus -- Lucy (f)\ Quakers -- Frankie (m) and Amber (f) Tiels -- Bloke (m), Sydney (f), Jesse (m), Sheila (f), Bob (m) Parakeets -- Tor (m) and Fodien (f) English Budgies -- Olive (f), Rose (f), Jerry (m), and Victor (m)
At the moment, I also have three 1-month old tiel babies. Bloke and Syd surprised me by laying the eggs, sitting on them till they hatched, and feeding them for about two weeks before starting to pluck the babies and quit feeding them as well. I am now hand feeding these little ones. Going to be hard to let them go to new homes when they are old enough. They're kind of special to me now.
Anyway -- Karen? How is Boris? I miss hearing about her. I just thought I'd check in to see what's been going on. I'll go have a look around now to see what's been happening since my last visit.

Haha! Lucy is a perfect angel around the hubby. In Lucy's eyes I'm the "other woman". I figure it is a female ekkie thing, but sheesh, why doesn't she get cage aggressive also? Oh, and she does have her sweet side like today when she came up to me and wanted me to pick her up. I did and she just cuddled with me. She only chases me when she's on the ground. It's the strangest thing. Silly little girl.

Ok, I've been having troubles with Lucy (ekkie) lately. She has been getting off her cage more and more now that she's fully flighted. Normally that wouldn't be a bad thing as she's only able to do that when we're home and can watch her. The problem is that when she gets down on the floor, she chases/lunges at me. I'm the only one she does this to. Now, she can be on her cage and I can all but climb in it and she has no problem with it. Like I said it's only when she is on the floor. Well, that really isn't true -- she charged at me while on the kitchen cabinet last night -- right in front of the hubby even. First time that's happened. So, any guesses as to what is happening and what I can do about it? I've tried locking her in the cage until hubby gets home but that just doesn't seem fair to her. So, I've started letting her out and keeping a towel close by so that when she does start this attacking I can pick her up without getting bit and put her back on her cage. I don't mind her on the floor just the charging and attacking. I'm thinking dominance thing, but

My hubby took the day off to catch up on some things around the house. One of those things was mowing. So, when I leave for work this afternoon I ask him if he wanted me to leave the birds out and he said yes that he was home and there was no need to put them up. Something we always do. Well, he went out to do some yard work with Frankie (quaker) on top of his cage and Lucy (eclectus) on top of hers. They don't usually get off their cages when we are outside -- inside too for that matter.
Well, Jerry came in and noticed what he thought was a rat in our bedroom. He said he was close to standing on a chair. lol. Then he realized Lucy wasn't on her cage -- nor was she in it. He went into the bedroom to get a closer look at the rat and discovered that this particular "rat" had red feathers instead of fur.
Yup, Lucy went on a walk-a-bout unsupervised. Needless to say, she got herself locked up in her cage until I got home. Jerry said that when he put her back in her cage she actually hung her head like she knew she was in trouble.

I agree with Karen. He's drinking but not when you are around. They can be sneaky little things.
