ok, that wasn't supposed to be a happy dance, it was supposed to be a sad face.

Just let him out, flew straight up into our rainforest canopy where there were lots of other greenies. I'm sure he'll be fine now, I like a happy ending too. Unfortunately when I was a wildlife carer, the unhappy ones far outweighed the happy ones

Hi pollyparrot, yes we have the drunken parrot trees around here as well, lol, I've had a few birds come in drunk and had to wait til they sober up to release them. I think the main problem with them getting drunk is that it makes them easy prey for cats and dogs. He is looking more lively this morning, climbing all over the branches in the cage, so I'll give him some mashed banana with a bit of lory dry sprinkled on it, and once he has had a good feed, I'll release him. We have a euodia elleriana (pink butterfly tree) in full blossom at the moment, and we have dozens of scalies and rainbow lorikeets hanging out in it all day, so hopefully he will hook up with some others. It is such a good feeling to open the cage and let them out, I don't like keeping wild birds in cages for any longer than is necessary.

has had a little nibble of apple. I have him covered up now for the night. Hopefully after a good night's sleep he will be fine in the morning

it is a scaly breasted lorikeet (aka greenie), he would be a wild one, they are abundant in this area. I have put some cut up apple and grapes sprinkled with dry lory mix in his cage with some grevillea blossoms, but at the moment he is just sitting on the bottom of his cage looking sorry for himself. Doesn't appear to have brain damage or anything, hopefully just mild concussion, they usually recover from that pretty quickly. Just keeping him in a dark, quiet room for a few hours before disturbing him again. they are CUTE!

Just went for a drive with my girls, on the way home we saw this little guy sitting on the side of the road. Went around the block, he was still sitting there, so I grabbed him and have brought him home. Appears to be healthy, plenty of meat on him, no damaged wings, so I'm guessing he's concussed from a car hit. Will keep him caged and quiet for a few hours, hopefully his headache will be gone and he will fly away. Is only young, still has a bit of grey fluff underneath his feathers.

my males seem to do more of the chick rearing than the females as well, so they are needed in the whole scheme of things.

my cockatiels won't eat lettuce, but they love spinach and thistle from the garden.

I didn't start painting until I was about 20, and I don't believe it is a gift, I had lessons with a very talented lady, who taught me that anyone can learn to paint, it just takes practice and passion. Give it a go, you will probably surprise yourself. I think the trick is to find a subject that you love. For me, it is parrots (obviously, lol)
