Unfortunately I have some sad news. I lost them all over one day. There was one who seemed to have an enlarged liver or some internal bleeding as I could see it through the skin. When I got up to feed them first thing in the morning he was already dead but there were 2 others that weren't looking too good. One of those had died when I went to count them after the morning feed. The other fed but not well at the next feed but I found it dead at the following feed so thinking that maybe they weren't warm enough as these guys need to be kept warmer than most I moved them into an esky with the hot water bottle I'd been using for them. When I took them out for their next feed they were dead but their bodies felt quite warm. I think it was too warm for them. Pinkies are notoriously difficult to raise no matter what kind of animal they are as temperature is soooooo important. I'll never use an esky agan even though some carers swear by them. Unfortunately this is the heartbreaking part of being a carer and I'm still kicking myself for not checking them earlier as I had a feeling that it might have been a bit too hot for them but I had to balance that up with disturbing them too often as too much handling can also kill tiny critters like these.

I've just picked up 8 yellow footed antechinus which are still at the pinky stage, their eyes aren't even open yet. I'll post pics of them later in a new thread.

She's going great. Her fur is heaps longer than it was and she's learning to stand. She has no coordination or strength in her legs yet though so she looks like she's got her wobbly boots on LOL I'll get pics of her standing later but for now here's a couple of her wanting to know everybodys business. Scuse the person in the background, not the most flattering angle LOL

Yeah she's doing well Judy. She's on 5 feeds a day and gaining a little weight. She's so inquisitive, wants to know what everything is but then dives back into her pouch for a min then sticks her head back up for another look LOL

We have a new baby in the house, well sort of, we have a young joey who has been orphaned. I've called her Bella (hopefully it's a girl LOL) I'll have to do 4 - 5 hourly feeds for pretty much the next year. She's fully furred but it's very short and fine so she needs constant, even heat as she isn't able to regulate her temp properly yet.

It is the biggest buzz watching them fly off. Nearly all land on a close branch and sit and watch us for a while. It is hard to let some of them go as they certainly steal you heart.

We've been caring for some tawny frogmouths for quite some time. The three we have now can't be released so they're sharing the aviary with our resident kookaburras. They look like owls but are actually part of the nightjar family. This is a pic of one we released. .

We have 4 of them now. All of them have their left wing damaged so will stay with us for ever. They can be such noisy buggers when they all start 'laughing' but we love them ;D

The wildlife carer we help. We also get them around the farm so iF we kill one we freeze it and then cut it up, or should I say 'I' cut it up. My fella won't do it. The sacrifices I have to make... LOL

LOL that would have been so funny. I remember camping one weekend and we had just sat down to eat a bbq. My brother had a big steak in his hands and had his mouth open to take a bite and out of nowhere this kooka comes flying down and steals the steak right out of his hands and mouth. We all nearly wet ourselves laughing. It landed about 6 feet away and started smashing the steak on the ground to 'kill' it. The only thing that saved the rest of the meat was that every kooka for a mile around started 'laughing'. Talk about rubbing salt into the wound. ROFPML LMAO. I still laugh out loud every time I think about it
