There needs to be a minimum of 2, so a pair would be more than happy living together

Hi, welcome to the forum.
Have you thought about getting a couple of finches? They are beautiful little birds that wouldnt miss being handled at all and have a lovely unique noise.

Ooooh what preparation Mr Green has gone to!! I hope Tiddles (or Tid) sees him for the handsome man he is and doesnt just marry him for his assets, that warden patrolled flat and its contents would be enough to impress the queen!!
So excited for you Mr Green, enjoy your trip tomorrow! Oh and dont forget to tell the Chauffer to take it easy on the roundabouts, wouldnt want a feather to get out of place because of a sharp right hander?! #norty#

The older ones havent taken it too badly, as ive been warning them for a while that he wont be with us much longer, still upset of course but not quite as badly as jamie. He wants another bird, but we wont be getting him one for a good while yet, the way he is at the moment no bird will match up to his "Sherby" expectations. If it is a budgie he wants then maybe in the summer. Do you mean this one... I love that too, shame its a camera phone and not great quality - would have been a fab picture! #heart# And while i was searching for that one i found one of when we first got him.... How chubby was that boy?!?!?! ;D

Thank you everyone for your messages, they do mean a lot. He had been finding everything very hard work the last few weeks so i have been expecting it for a little while. To be honest, i was even considering having him put to sleep if he hadnt gone on his own by this weekend. We have so many precious memories of him and a frayed curtain to remember him by lol, that i actually feel better now that he has finally given up and let himself rest. I know that sounds very callous, but its in his best interests. Jamie is distraught though, he's cried himself to sleep the last 2 nights bless him
