Yes...absolutely gorgeous!! I have always heard that usually you just see a flash of blue as they zip away whenever you see a kingfisher so I was soo pleased to get a good look at it!

I only saw myself a kingfisher today in the river behind my house!!!! It was such a brilliant blue and I have never seen one in the wild before, I was sooo excited, I hid in the bushes david Bellamy style and watched it dive bombing the river for fishies! After a little while it got one and flew away! I will have to take the camera out tomorrow and see if I can kodak moment it!!

Lol s/he obviously enjoyed the trip!! I went to Kapiti Island when I was in NZ which is an island off the main land which has been turned into a bird sanctuary and saw all these birds there and some others... NZ birds are definitely something special and the kereru is very impressive when you first see it. We actually had a family of pukeko living in a park close to our house, they were gorgeous and its hard not to love them! Not entirely convinced about the 'blue chicken' takahe or 'blue flamingo' pukeko.... just not seeing it myself sure there are similarities but really!!! Pukeko Flamingo (twice the size) Takahe Chicken
