Thanks telmadee & Scully. We're all pretty excited around here! She's a real sweetie. I didn't realize how clumsy tiels were until I put her in that big cage! I hope she'll be okay in there!

I want to keep Bailey a little while longer before adding another. We've only had her for (it will be) two weeks on Monday, so we'll probably wait 6 months or so, so that we may really bond with Bailey. **this being said while tying hands behind back so as not to be able to drive to the breeder's house right now! )

Oh, I am totally in love! I would get another in a heartbeat, except that I'd be completely sad if they didn't get along. Also, what would Princess Bailey do if she was no longer an only child??

LOL. Well if you ask my husband or the kids, I got it for the kids. But if you ask me...

Are you kidding me? The longest I've been able to even get Bailey away from my kids was to take that picture! LOL

Okay, as you all know, I'm going to look at a few tiels tomorrow with my kids. Well, you may not have known that I'm going tomorrow, but you know I'm getting a tiel. Anyhoo...my fear is that I am going to fall in love with more than one! I know myself & I can almost guarantee that this is going to happen. There is plenty of room in the cage for two, but I also want them to stay tame & want to hang out with us. They are 3 months old, handfed & tame now. If I end up getting two (and they are brothers & sisters & have been living together thus far) am I asking for problems? Will they not want to be with us even if we have them out of the cage for long hours at a time? Will they lose their tameness? (Yeah, I know it's not a word, but I like it!) Will they get older & decide they don't enjoy each others company enough to share a cage? I know it would thrill my children to each have their own, but I don't want to risk losing any love they have to give or risk having my children be afraid of them if they are not nice anymore because there's two.
What are your thoughts?

Thanks everyone, a lot of useful info! I appreciate you taking the time. I think that what it will boil down to is if we fall in love with each other! I suppose anything after that we'll just have to take it as it comes!

I'm actively looking for a tiel and I think I want a male. The reason being is that I'm afraid if I get a female she will start laying eggs at some point. That whole process scares the heck out of me! I am new to all of this & I wouldn't even know what to do if that happened! My question is...do you think I'm right in feeling this way? If we find a female & fall in love with her, should we walk away due to inexperience, or is this an issue that I shouldn't even worry about? I just don't want to put my tiel in harm's way due to lack of knowledge. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I just got a cockatiel who is 3 months old (Bailey ). Her main diet is 3/4 Kaytee cockatiel food & 1/4 Kaytee Exact. (and veggies fruits, etc of course!) Anyway, I think I want to switch her diet because she is basically picking out all of the sunflower seeds & barely eating the rest. Which are better for a tiel- Nutriberries or pellets. Or are they both the same as far as nutrients go? Thanks for your help!
