Sounds like you've been really busy! Riamfada has a great room! What a great idea. I wish I had a spare room for Jasper... he'd love it. I also enjoy chess. As for the saying regarding gnats and elephants, I'm afraid that I am much smaller than a gnat. I do my best and have fun, but nearly anyone can beat me.

Sorry to hear you lost a bird, but glad things seem to be working out. Let us know how things go with the eggs!

What lovely ladies! It seems that several aviaries are experiencing "Love Dramas" right now... glad poor Freddie is getting a break!

Aw, poor lonely Minty! I don't think his habit would be dangerous health wise, or if it was you'd see more serious effects by now, but I'd try to keep an eye on his weight, etc. If it was me I'd try to get him a pal. I really can't of think of anything else to do... I always tried to keep an even number with my budgies because otherwise somebody always ended up depressed in a corner. Good luck with them!

I love George and Mildred! I've always wanted quail. Everybody else is lovely as well. ;D Does Bob behave with the birdies? I used to have a pointer that would just stare and whine at the aviary (aka Doggy TV) for hours on end. She only got to be a nuisance during breeding season.

Welcome to July! Hope you and your fids had a great month!
Welcome to the new members who joined last month: 1968plymo, alex4angela, Andy Moquin, birdmaniac, jusdeb, kiolva, malcolm, sasha, scooziee11, and zhx0594. And, Happy Birthday wishes to: darume, iowarollers, hawk, Andy Moquin, shandy77, kat1099, jeanne, winnie, yelmah, Billie, freswood, derek, gillym, essex, and vics. Here's some of the Bird Crazy highlights from June:
New member Snowball has posted celebrity cockatoo Snowball's newest video in the Guest Nest! You may know Snowball as the "dancing cockatoo". Quite a talented bird! ;D Erik has an adorable new kitten! "Romeow" and his siblings were rescued from a window well and he is now doing well in his new home! Billie has continued to keep up Harry the budgie's flying exercise. Harry is moving forward (and up) and has made his first successful landing! This month, at least three of the green cheek conures who own Bird Crazy members have been keeping busy:
-Biggles has discovered that apparently, the way to Scully's heart is to turn off her laptop. Repeatedly.
-Chicken, on the other hand, settles for popping the "B" key off of Erik's keyboard.
-Jasper (who owns me) has gotten into an interesting relationship with the neighborhood mockingbird. Judging by the amount of time they spend "conversing", they should be the world's best couple. However, due to the volume and pitch of their "sweet nothings", I'm thinking that a break-up may be a good idea...
What have your feathered and furred kids been doing to keep you busy/entertained/or just a bit insane lately? We'd love to hear about it... and pretty please, don't forget the pictures! ;D
Thank you all for your contributions of laughs, tips, and so much more. Enjoy Bird Crazy, I'll be seeing you around!
-Liz

That's a pretty fancy new house! The little "oldies" can retire in style. Overall, I'd say you made a very wise investment.

So that's why they call 'em mockingbirds. I have to say that I've never minded mockingbirds before. In fact, I thought they were entertaining, lovely birds. The local mockingbird has taken it as his personal duty to torment Jasper and me. This includes waking us both up at 2 am after keeping Jasper awake (and very grumpy) for an hour after his bedtime, competing in screaming competitions with Jasper, and screaming out an excellent imitation of conure fury. I'm usually very tolerant of this sort of thing, but couldn't it "mock" somewhere else? I swear this bird is from the underworld!
