My budgie who we believe is a male is about 7 months now. I noticed last week that his cere started gettting a little brown/red. The coloration is only on the bottom of his cere towards his beak and the top and middle of his cere is a very light color...almost white.
Is my boy turning into a girl??? Is it possible that his cere looked like a male, but in actuality is a female becuase isn't around 7 months when you really start to see the color of the cere?
Or is this a health problem I should get checked out.
If this helps at all...he was a sweet boy until that whole puberty thing a couple months ago and he is now very irritable and territorial.
Hopefully someone can shed some light for me...thanks in advance!!
*Edit...he is also molting again (and molts often)
My Boris (in my Avatar) has a fantastic personality. When she was going through her first moult she became so irritible that she started biting, hard! She is in a major moult at the moment with feathers everywhere through the house! I think they have a major moult once a year and probably a mini moult once or twice. Do your temperatures jump up and down as this could confuse the poor thing.
