Frosty is now in the little emergency cage Entirely my own fault, i hadnt realised how tall Jamie has got and hadnt put a padlock on the top cage door (there is one permenantly on the lower door) so he opened it to say hello to them. True to form, Frosty jumped straight out for a fuss but the cat hadnt been shut away and so (as nature would tell her to) she saw him as dinner. Luckily Jamie shouted at the cat straight away and we came running, Frosty has a little puncture wound on his side which stopped bleeding very quickly considering. He is now in the emergency cage next to the radiator with a VERY low perch to stop him lifting his wing too much (water and food in dishes on the floor for the same reason) and a towel over the top to keep him calm. He doesnt seem to be very fazed at all, drinking and eating ok and keeps looking at me as if to ask what the fuss is all about #rolleyes# Here he is settled nicely in his little cage and here is his hurt bit although you cant see much apart from blood stained feathers. Keep your fingers crossed for him, if he makes it through the night he has a 99% chance of making a full recovery.

Oh the poor little mite! I hope Jamie doesn't blame himself, I know how much he loves animals. If Frosty isn't too stressed try bathing the wound. Cats have so much bacteria in their mouths, it might get infected otherwise

i sprayed the area with Jamie's antibacterial/desinfectant spray that we use for his eczema as soon as i realised he was bleeding (i think that helped to stem it a little, it does with jamies wounds) and in the morning i will try to bath him properly, he's stressed enough to try to take lumps out of jons hands but for a change he didnt bite me once!

Oh, I'm pleased he doesn't blame himself. Kids do these things don't they? My youngest let the dog in last night, whilst all the birds were out! My heart leapt into my mouth, but luckily all were safe!

oh no not little Frosty! aww sal that looks nasty, and hes so lucky hope he recovers soon. I have used vet wound powder before now, as it dries it up, as well as protects the wound from infection. Its also easy to sprinkle through feathers bless him

thanks for all your sweey messages, yep did the cornflower thing after i cleaned the wound with the baby spray (i figured good for babies, good for animals?) GUESS WHAT!!!! Hes fine!!! got up this morning half expecting to see him laying on the bottom of the cage and he is jumping around chirping away without a care in the world! he just keeps looking at the door now asking to come out, i know he doesnt like the little cage but he's gonna stay in it for a while. he gets easily puffed out at the mo so he will be kept a close eye on. you never know, by the time he goes back in with the others, he might even like me
