I have been looking at various cages, thinking i may buy one later. I have noticed the ones that have the seed catchers, have a mesh floor. Just wondering if anyone has one, how thier birds cope with the floor, knowing mine do spend time on the floor.
also can anyone reccomend one that would suit 6 budgies, or at least that size. I am not going to bother unless the living space is worth the cost to what i have. Or i may even decide to make my own again, during the summer. Just pondering with ideas

my cage used to have a grate on the bottom for the catch tray and mine love spending time on the floor but with the metal grate there none of them would stand on it. I tok the metal grate out and they have all gone back to walking around the floor again. I think it just depends on how fussy the bird(s) are and whether they know by protesting you will let them have their way lol

I've found that putting paper over the grated floor for a couple of weeks, then only covering half of it for another week or so, then finally removing it, allows the birds to get used to the different feel of it. I think it is healthier than walking in their poo. I do change the paper every day anyway. That's with cockatiels, and budgies.
