I have great news! Juniper ate out of my hand yesterday! He actually jumped on my hand to get the millet! He let me stroke his wings and his head! I actually got to kiss Juniper!

I've been doing some research on tiels. I've gotten mixed answers to a big question I have. I want to know if tiels can be put in a cage with a budgie. Specifically with Juniper. How many with a budgie? Can 2 fit with a budgie? My answers are completely divided. 5 yes, 4 no, and 1 maybe. I was wondering if someone here could answer my question.

If they are handreared then is shouldnt be a problem. Alot of people put mixed variety of birds in big aviaries and they breed ok. ie, budgies, tiels.

It would need to be a very large cage. If you decided to breed the tiels in the same cage then it could get dangerous for Juniper. I wouldn't recommend 2 cockatiels, 1 should be okay but not 2. Best person to ask would be Anna (luvmytiels) on the Bird Town forum as she has kept and bred tiels for many years.

I think I might have to get a new cage. Juniper is very territorial. Plus, all the perches and toys aren't cockatiel sized in his cage. I think it would be best to buy a new cage if I am going to have a cockatiel.
Remember, only my dad has said yes. My mom is always the one that doesn't let me get things. She also doesn't like birds and told me when I got Juniper that he was all she wanted to have in the house. I hope I can still convince her with my dad on my side. Maybe if she read a few posts about tiels from you she's say yes.

Uh-oh. My mom saw me researching cockatiels. She reminded me how I am not to get a cockatiel. I hope I can change her mind.
