I was wondering, do you get a vet check-up after getting a new bird? I got it from a breeder, and she seems healthy, but do I get a vet check to make sure?

If you are at all worriied then i would recommend a quick trip to the vets, but if you were happy with the breeder you got her from and were able to see the parents were healthy and the housing conditions were perfectly acceptable i personally wouldnt. A visit to the vets (car journeys etc) can sometimes be traumatic for the bird (depending on the bird of course, some like a car ride lol) and for a bird getting used to a new home this could (only could, not would) reverse some of the training that you have been working on. This is only a personal opinion, but i hope it helps

If you don't take her to a vet for a check up I'd like to suggest buying her some vitamin supplements. Reason being is no matter how good we make our birds' diet, there is always something missing. You can get from the vet some water soluble vitamins, I'd suggest giving them in her water for 2-3 days a fortnight & a worm supplement every 3-4 months.
