Woosie had blood on her tummy feathers today. It seems she was actually bleeding from her toenails, although I can't see why. Any suggestions? The bleeding has stopped, and she seems fine. I didn't notice any injury happen, and she didn't scream, or let me know she had been hurt.
She sometimes limps a bit, so I think maybe she got her nail caught in the carpet or something? But, it's not bleeding, isn't hanging loose or anything, so I will just see how it goes! Why, on the weekend, again! The avian vet is impossible to get into, and I have no chance on a weekend!
Lin I had the same thing as you yesterday I noticed my Albino cock budgie Fred had some blood on his tummy feathers and after close examination I discovered a tiny blood spot on his leg near the elbow that's they best way I could describe it. It was not bleeding profusely so I think he just knocked himself, this morning he was okay when I checked him. I put him in a hospital cage to be on the safe side but alls well So don't beat yourself up about it you are a GOOD BESTEST MUMMY and birds are tough little buggers they just like to worry us, like our kids do. Hugs
I tried to take pics last night, but I couldn't get any that weren't blurry. She is still holding her foot up whenever she can, and the actual foot looks like it is bruised. No avian vets available on the weekend, but I will ring on Monday if she is no better! Poor little baby, she's being really sooky too
Sorry to hear about Woosie - I don't suppose you have any Witch Hazel around do you? If there isn't an open wound, you could try soaking some cotton wool in it and apply to her leg. It's fantastic for bruising - I'm not sure what it does, but I've used it for years on everything from Humans to Horses to Dogs/Cats etc, and it does seem to help. As far as i know there shouldn't be anything in it that would harm woosie. Good luck Lin and Hugs to you and Woosie
Dream as if you'll live for ever. Live as if you'll die today.
I'll get some in for future emergencies!~ On Saturday I noticed Woosie biting her foot, so I rang the vets. The avian vet is fully booked, but I made an appointment with another vet in the practice for a time that the avian vet is on! (sneaky hey!) It's for this afternoon. This morning I get up and Woosie's foot is fine - all the blood is gone, the bruising is gone, and she's looking at me like I imagined the whole thing #evil# Grr, I will cancel the appointment, and remember not to panic in future #embarassed#
