Boy its quiet around here, so i thought i would tell you about what i did for my birdies outside today. We have been having some real heavy rain here in the sunny south of the uk, and my birdies have been getting more showers than they really wanted. I put a plastic sheet(pool cover!) and tied it all down. The budgies have a nice cosy corner, with a open box to keep warm in, which is well sheltered from wind and rain. I boarded up one side of thier corner.Nice rope perch inside too. The main box (where Sugar is sitting on some flipping eggs!, i told her its too cold and wet for babies, but she just sat there ) now has a pigeon door, to keep out the elements, and inside more rope perches, a box to play in, and a few hangy things. Got fed up with the Kak scratch box getting wet, so i made a nice dry box, out of an old TV stand. They can go inside, and find the treats ive hidden, Sugar was exploring it as soon as i finnished. While i was hosing the avairy down today, i sprayed Sugar and Spice, and they sat there enjoying the hose down for quite a while. Harvey was not impressed, and went away very quickly Sugar and Spice have a little pool, with a rock or two so that was my day today, and ive a blood blister to prove it

aww poor Scully, what is the saying.....theres no love like a mothers love huh lol. The rain has been terrible Scully hasnt it, i only said to Meg the other day that im gonna have to start covering my aviary back over for the winter, only problem I found last year with that though was that they wanted to breed, cos it was so warm in there then like a greenhouse to be exact lol, but at least they were warm and dry.

Oooo a blood blister!!! I love getting those, they're so satisfying to burst!!
Sounds like you have been a busy girly!! I am sure they appreciate all the hard work you put in... LOL!!! I would be soo worried about them getting too cold over the winter that I would probably end up toasting them!!!
I got a whole load of new goodies for my kakky people at the weekend. I got a swing which Kiri has barely left since I put it in, one of those donkey pinata thingies, Bernie and Chicken lUUURVE it, lots of coconut husks and vine rings which they all love, a banana birdy mineral block (all together now...... bananana do do do do do bananana do do do do ....) for each cage which only ever get touched by Kenny and Ollie and finally a hamster exercise wheel which they have all been avoiding like the plague!!! hehehehehe

Don't forget where kaks come from! Some parts of New Zealand get snow. You need to take some pics of your hard work Donna.

Definately. I do mine every 6 months. They should probably get done more often but I visually check & any excessive scratching, pulling out of feathers, biting self is investigated.
