I've had two of my budgies, Spongebob and Akala, set up for breeding in my room for a few weeks now, they laid a total of 5 eggs and today the first one hatched. Meet Mumble (Happy Feet themed names for this clutch), my lovely little albino gal. And here's a pic of Akala i got a couple of days ago. And of couse Bob, the proud daddy. I'll keep you posted on any news.

Here's some photos of the lovely little family. Newest baby Noah is barely visible under his 3 bigger siblings but he's been fed and seems to be just as strong as the others. When i first looked into the nest box after coming home from a driving lesson with dad i freaked cause there was dark stuff in their crops and then i realised i'd just fed the parents this massive piece of bok choy, lol! Spongebob's been a good dad eating up the soft food to feed his family. As well as eating seed for 6 now, wow! There is a little bit of fluff starting to sprout on the butts of Mumble and Memphis. And they've also got little eye slits showing so i think pretty soon they'll be looking around with cute little baby eyes. Why do you always look at my babies? I don't like it! Get out of here!! I'll call my husband to deal with you! And then they started feeding the weenies so i left them alone. I love having little baby budgies again. They're so sweet, everynight i go to sleep with the little cheeping sound of baby budgies in the room. I love it!

I simply cannot believe this but the 5th egg just hatched!! I no way expected that all the eggs would actually be good. Am yet to 100% decide on the name for this one but will let you know soon with some photos too. I think it literally JUST hatched cause it was buried beneath it's siblings (like the egg was) and is yet to be fed. If it's not been fed in an hour or so i may bring out the two eldest bubs for 5-10 mins to give it a chance to be heard.

Mum and dad are still happily ignoring the poor baby. I got up every 3 hours during the night to feed it and will continue doing so. It goes back in the nest box after feeds for warmth and in the hopes that the parents will decide to feed the little guy. I'm off to feed it now...it's been almost 3 hours since i fed it at 5am, lol. I'm going to be a zombie in school today! Good thing my timetable allows me to be at home for feeding times, how conviniant is that?!

I was like a zombie for the first little bit of school but i'm nice and awake now, ready for the day. I've just ducked home from school to feed the little dude. It was only 2.5hrs since his last feed and he still had a little bit left in his crop, i'm not sure if that's what i put there or if the parents fed him a bit. I've topped him up anyway, he was eating like a PIG! He's still nameless though. And for size here he is next to an aussie 5c coin.
