well ..............Jessie has laid another egg already!! only problem is Jake !! he wont let me anywhere near the cage if he is out, or anywhere near the food bowls or nestbox if he is in the cage. I have just checked the nestbox while he wasnt looking, and saw Jess had another egg. I cant get near to close the inspection door!!! i am sat at the computer which is next to their cage, everytime i go to have a drink which is on the pc table he goes for me!! when i tried to close the inspection door, Jake saw me and flew onto my shoulder and started hissing and trying to bite me! i have never had a problem like this..........i really need to get the door closed on the nest box too do you think they are like this because their eggs were taken away a few days ago? i had to take them as they were starting to go bad.

alexandra Karen has some good advise there. The cock bird is being very protective of his girl. I think placing the cage away from you may be a good idea as the cock bird will settle down better. I find it a good rule not to disturb the breeding birds. I also keep a log book as to when the eggs are layed with hatching dates. This is my opinion and what I do. I hope this helps you.

we do have a tricky situation regarding the nest box. as the box is quite large, we had to place the nest box inside the cage as its too heavy to hang outside, no where to place it either! so i have to go inside the cage to check how many eggs they have etc. also our house isnt that big so we are limited for space, dont really have anywhere else to put the cage, they are in the place furthest away from where everyone walks through etc i know this may not be the best suituation for breeding birds but we didnt plan on breeding them so soon!! we thought Jessie was too young! also that they wouldnt breed unless we supplied a nest box............we were wrong! the egg came before we got a nest box!
