Won't happen too often I hope! I may have to prevent the Kaks from breeding after all, the male (Matt) has started attacking the male budgies. I can't remove the budgies as they are feeding babies & the times I have seen the attacking I have concerns over the future safety of the budgies.

Can you not put them elsewhere Karen? or have you no spare avairy?
I have had a little of that too today, as They were all out, and if i dont keep an eye on them , the Kak's will attack Graham, and of course he cant really get away as easy as Harvey.

No more spare aviaries I'm afraid.

they will attack when they are in breeding mode, there isnt much that can be done except keep them seperate from the budgies till they decide they have finished breeding. Even if you take the nest box away, they will still be in "breeding" mode and will still give a good punch (well, bite) they might settle when they realise that the budgies arent going to do potential babies any harm though so give them a little while and they could sort it between themselves, a sort of "i wont eat your babies i you dont eat mine" kind of thing

Good advice Sal. I went to check up on them this morning and 'someone' has given Matt (boy kak) a real good ticking off! He is missing a patch of feathers on the top of his head and also a small chunk of skin. I think if Kath (girl kak) didn't do it then the Yellow budgie hen did as she does not like Matt very much.

I didn't post this sooner I am slack.
I have had to separate Matt & Kath as Kath is sick again. I just don't think I can breed her as everytime they attempt breeding she gets sick - loses weight, gets lethargic. I keep her by herself for a couple weeks & she is fine again, so I guess I am down a breeding hen now. Ah well, 30th April is the big bird show so I'll just have to buy 3 kaks (2 YC boys & 1 RC hen) now. I put Donny in the aviary with the other kaks - a bit of a worry until I put Matt in there too. Before I put Donny in, there were 4 females & 1 male. When Donny went in there the other male kept attacking him so I put Matt in to even it up a bit. Now Matt & Donny are afraid of the other male!! Matt had been the dominant male prior to separating him for breeding, now is a lower male and I don't think he's happy about it!
