This is a pair I hope to breed sometime in the future. Donny is only about 3 months old & Brook is around 4-5 months old. They both have the pied gene so I am hoping for some visual pieds when I do decide to breed them. I took all other Kakariki out of the aviary so it's just those 2 & the bully budgies. I got inspiration for their names from Jules' town of Donnybrook. Perfect I reckon! I had tried to tame Donny but he wasn't interested so I put him in the aviary. Now whenever I go in there he jumps on me - he doesn't bite which is fantastic! Problem though, on Saturday I was bent over scrubbing the walls & he kept making a game out of how many times can he jump on my back before I go crook at him. Answer: 5. Brook has also started following Donny's lead and is starting to jump on me too. May I have this dance milady? Hey cutie! How's about a little kiss? Oh you brute! Suit yourself, don't know what you're missing Brook!

Are these Kakarikis, cause I heard on the weekend that these were one of the easiest birds to tame and most friendliest. I am hoping to get a couple for a breeding pair.

I haven't been able to breed them yet. It's probably a bit hot where I am in summer so I am hoping the 2 pair I have put down for breeding produce this winter. They are very easy to breed apparently! People breed them in Brisbane no problem. I just don't have the knack yet apparently.

Nice pics there Karen, I'm sure yours will get the hang of it one day....
Judy, they seem to want to breed all year round, mine have just had 2 clutches straight off and since i took the nest box out all Kiki ( the female) wants to do is find some where to nest. she even managed to get in the cupboard where the nest box is.
I read that will bread for 3 years and then retire after that.

Donny and Brook when you're old enough I would love it if you had lots of babies and make your mum a grandma. She would be sooooo happy.
lots of love
