Sal and Karen..how can i tell if and when Sugar is healthy enough to breed. We know she is a small hen, but what sort of weight should she be? Thinking of how long you had her Sal, and the condition she was when you first got her, what should i be looking for and perhaps feeding her, to at least get her to that condidtion, then i can decided if to or not. It seems a shame not to give her one nestful, There's a whole lotta lovin going on in that cage

she is as healthy as she will get as far as i can see, i forgot how much of a state they were when we first got them till i looked back at the photos just now. all she will need is lots of what you are already giving her (egg food, fresh greens, fruit). when they do lay eggs, they will need lots of soft food for help in feeding the babies (sweetcorn, egg food, berries etc).
its your decision for the if and when you let them breed, they are an established pair that do a lot of "naughties" so you wont have a problem in being successful lol
