Hi there everyone,
I am new here and also to the world of kakarikis but my pair started laying their first clutch just before the easter long weekend and are still adding to the clutch. I was just wondering if this is a normal length of time for them or something unsual.

Kaks do tend to lay a few, then a small break before a few more, just a couple of days normally, but a week is pretty normal. They can do this 2, possibly 3 times a year, especially if they are a close bonded pair.
Is this your first time breeding? not that I'm an expert, but I'm sure its exciting for you. Ive bred mine the once, and i had 6 eggs then, with first time parents, which were layed over a few days. Soon after the chicks fledged, they started again. They are very prolific egg laying birdies ;D If you go back a few posts on the Kak forum, you will see quite a few breedings, and pictures.
