Both of my new lorikeets don't quite understand what flowers and fruit are. Today I picked some branches with flowers on, and popped them in their cages again. Ever the eternal optimist, that's me! Well, Studley, after some hours of clinging to the roof of the cage in fright (biiiiig branches) has decided to check out the flowers! Yay! If he will just taste them, well, I'm sure he'd realise they are food! Many hours later, Lawrence is still clinging to the roof, occassionally screeching in fright And Skittles, well once we got over the disappointment that it wasn't our all time favourite grevillea, has of course had a lovely time licking out each flower of the nectar. Yum!

It sounds like they are slowly warming to the idea, that flowers are interesting, and good. It takes time, doesn't it.

It certainly does! Mind you, it hasn't taken as long as some budgies take to try some fresh vegies, so I can live in hope that soon they will pick up a piece of apple and place it in their beaks! You know, they won't even eat honey!
