We mainly use dry/wet nectar along with whatever fruits and veggies are around the house. Cob corn, grapes, cooked peas, spinich (from frozen) and peppers seem to get the most attention.
My old bird, Milo, will eat anything bread-related (pasta, cheerios, organic fruit-loops, etc). My new Lory doesn't even consider bready things food (I was surprised).
I'm just curious what other lory owners give their birds. I'm looking for easy ideas to add in. Thanks!

Harriettes, Buddies and Chesters Diet
Dry lori food three times a week. Wet lori mix at least twice. Be sure not to leave this in cage overnight as it can cause bacteria as the top goes all dry and yucky.
Apple, red or green. But core these and seed them. Seeds are posionous to these guys. Oranges. Cut in quaters and white skin taken off when cut. Grapes not the seeded type. Passionfruit Lychees.
Treats Once a week. Slice Bread and some jam or honey. Or teaspoon of honey between the three lorikeets
In the wet mix, I used to add pureed apple or apple from the baby jars. Just mix it in when its still warm. You can also get fruit sticks from petshops they love them.
Vegetables- fresh corn on the cob. Celery leaves. Spinach leaves. All washed.
Hope this helps

If you can be bothered, a really special treat for Lorikeets? Find an ants nest, dig around and grab a teaspoon full of ant larvae - watch your lorikeet go berserk over them. My girl was over 2 years old the first time I gave them to her. When she saw them her eyes pinned, she gave an overly sounding squeal and happily ate every last one. I only gave them to her about once a month - mainly because the ants bit me when I nest raided!

Karen I actually looked up about ants or ant larvae for lorikeets. YES, they go nuts over them but they tend to overindulge. they actually love ants so much that they will eat them until they vomit....ewwwwwwwwwwww Anyway here is the article. www.kcbbs.gen.nz/lori/ar/ants.html
