Pepi and cookie seem to be shredding the playpen to bits, pepi was great then cookie has shown him how to chew which is not good, so our rope has come down from the cieling umpteen times and the loris playpen has been chewed to bits, so I am just wondering what toys are suitable for major mitchells and galahs?

Lots of big branches with nice bark on them. Cockatoos need to have things they can destroy. Also honky nuts are a favourite.

Check out my links on my post for quality budgie toys as several included suppliers of parrot sized stuff. I bought the bird toy box in the budgie sized version and they love carring pieces aroung and flinging them about. There is a much larger version suitable for birds up to about Amazon sizes

I had to throw the loris play gym out last week as the parrots had destroyed it, well cookie mainly her new trick is the wall itself. Chewed a big hole in the plaster. so I moved the playpen sideways. I will search for some branches and give them to her.

Sounds like a bit of a nightmare Judy. When I looked after my friends macaw for 6 months he had a bird kong which he loved.... I am convinced that he could have destroyed it if he'd have wanted to but he loved it so much that he didn't. Maybe you could try one

Well, they originally made Kongs for dogs, claiming they were indestructible.... )I worked at Battersea dogs home and I can safely say they are not!! ) They have gone on to make loads of different types of kong including one for birds... here is a link to an Aussie site selling them www.ozpetshop.com.au/product_info.php/products_id/592Looks a bit boring and it's only one toy but honestly Harry the macaw just loved his!

ahhh sorta like a punching bag for birds.... cookie will probably chew a hole threw it. she has just worked out how to get off the playpen and on the floor underneath and chew her table.. I will go to the pet shop today and see what I can find.

With galahs Judy, you will just have to keep replacing things! Large branches with bark to strip, etc, but there is nothing indestructable to a galah #cheesy#

Its not a punch bag... its made from tough solid rubber with a hollow column in the middle to stuff it with stuff to pick out..... anyway it sounds like it'll be no good for yours. How about those stainless steel toys you can get would they be any good?

maybe branches are the go for a while, with a galah and major both at work, we need something indestructable, so I might get andrew to make a playpen out of branches to stick in the playarea, and see how that goes.
