My slate peachface hen and her mate, a pallid (aussie cinnamon) cock have a baby. It hatched today. S/he's doing well. This is their first baby, although poor Jasper has laid a few infertile clutches before. There are still 5 eggs to go, so I hope they hatch as well over the next few days. I only started breeding peachies in the last few months, so I don't know what colours to expect yet.

Thanks Jules & Karen. It's very exciting, with it being their first baby. I have another couple, a jade hen and pallid cock, who have just one baby out of a clutch of five eggs. He's a jade like his mum, and is now 6 weeks old next Friday.

I've been told what colours to expect out of the slate hen and pallid cock. Cocks will be visually jade/pallid.Dutch blue. Hens will be jade pallid/ Dutch blue. Which means that the hens will look like their father (pallid), only they'll be a little brighter, and with darker rumps. So, I might know what sex they are in a couple of weeks.

I haven't had the chance to check today, as it's been one of those days, when you're just out all day. But yesterday afternoon s/he was great. Nice full crop and growing well. Up till then, no other babies hatched. I really hope there'll be more than just the one. Fingers crossed please!
