hi guys just an update on my two birds. i kept them seperate after the little light pecking but put them next to each other in their cages. they seemed to be comunicating so i managed to make a cage partition with chicken wire, (took me three hours). and they seem fine, angel my ringneck seems the more curious of the two she stays on the partition looking at my rosella. sky (rosella) is just all chilled out. think sky must of been hand reared coz he do,sent bite and he even took a peice of apple of my two year old through the bars of his cage, pretty cool as he only arrived on tue. there is one thing though my ringneck loves red grapes and since bieng partitioned off has took to sitting on them!!!. bless her she has even made a kind of nest out of sand and seeds, there is no way she could be pregnant. also she is picky on wich grapes she takes to her "nest", she will spend a good half hour going through the few grapes i give her daily and pick just one, she is really gentle with each turning it rubbing her head on it and talking to it. so far she has two (she eats the others). has anybody any clue on what she is doing?has anyone had the same thing?. also her wings were badly clipped when i got her evry time they started healing she would groom them and make them bleed, since the grape thing she seems to have forgot about them. what should i do? leave her with the grapes and try to switch them for fresh ones? though i,m sure she would know, i tried seperating her from sky and she screamed blue murder none stop till i put her back. i,m completly stuck dont know what to do for the best any ideas?

oh that is hillarious! I think she is just broody, it won't hurt letting her sit on her 'eggs' and it has the added bonus of her leaving her wings alone. Birds often do harmless weird things. It's obviously as quirk of hers. Very funny one though!

hi all sorry its been a while been soooo busy. still no camers so no pics as yet but def workin on it. birds are fine one thing though angel has now left the grape thing alone, but has took to screaming instead. when i say screaming i mean really high pitched screeching usually at seven in the morning, sky (rosella) can be quite loud but he do,sent scream, its whistling or doing his nee naw noise. is this normal for a ringneck? i,m sure the neihbours are going to get angry with her as its super loud. they are now in an aivery so i cant cover her at night. any ideas before the niehbours get her evicted lol ?

Sorry Mate, even when I used to have Ringo she would scream at certain times of the day & there was nothing I could do about it. I was lucky though as my neighbour on the aviary side loves my birds so I never got complaints. Have you tried going outside when she does it and offering her some treats? Sunflower seeds were always a hit with Ringo.

As you said it was at 7 in the morning she is maybe just doing her morning 'singing'. My budgie always starts singing at that type of time but hes a great alarm clock I have read that if they scream than you can sometimes make it stop by not giving attention to the bird whilst they are screaming or putting a cover over the cage when she is screaming as they will see that screaming causes this. sorry if you knew that already or if you cant do it. hope it all turns out well in the end. Also i read that giving treats is a bad thing as they learn that when they scream out they get treats so they do it more. sorry if I sound annoying.

think i,v just resighned myself to the fact she,s "origional", she was badly treated by her last owner so maybe she,s just loving the new life she has. cant cover her coz she,s in the aivery outside she has a huge box but seems to prefer the outside. as for ignoring her i,m usually in bed when she starts as i work nights so she gets ignored anyway. at least she,s happy its took over two months before i heard a peep off her so, she must feel at home. guess i should be honoured!! lol

it is rewarding having a mistreated bird, especially seeing her now compared to the shell she was when she first came. i wouldn't recommend it to a novice though, angel was my first bird and although i love her to bits i have had to learn so much in such a small amount of time its been very hard. she is petrified off men going ballistic if one so much as goes in the back garden, and she also self harms which is extremely expensive. she will never be a tame bird but considering what she,s been through i don't blame her. and after all she,s been through she loves kids singing to and sort of laughing when my two boys go near her, funny how she seems to realize that they are not men yet and that they are just little people. yeah its been well worth the effort and the money and hopefully she,ll be happy for the next 20+ years with us. and i promise i,m working on the pics lol
