Someone rang me and said they had a brush tailed possum that needed care so I went to pick it up. When I had a look at it I was quite surprised as it was no possum. It was a brush tailed phascogale which is a native carnivorous marsupial which is about the size of a rat. This one was smaller, probably just about ready to leave the nest. Unfortunately he was in deep shock when I picked him up and didn't survive the night. Here's a pic of him. Here's a link about phascogales home.iprimus.com.au/readman/phas.htm

You have such fascinating animals in Australia. I've learned an awful lot by being on BC.

sorry to hear about your little guy jules. We have some of them around home. The cat bought one home a while back little bugger. There tails are so big and furry.

Your cat was lucky it wasn't savaged. These guys are small but they are very vicious. I've seen the leftover mess of a chicken one killed, not a pretty sight.

Dog or cat attack I think as it had fut missing down one flank. It was probably grabbed out of its nest
