Concerned? Kiwi has laid 2 eggs but Sid is doing 90% of the sitting and won't let her in the box for too long. She doesn't have enough time in there to lay any more and she is now feeding Sid constantly...... should I be concerned or is this natural behaviour?

That'd mean Sid's a girl! Role reversal, haven't heard of that happening with kaks but with those birds nothing surprises me.

Ok - just to confuse y'all a bit more..... Kiwi has laid 13 eggs 'pre-Sid' so she's definately a girl. George said that Sid has been bred from before according to the guy she got him from. Kiwi mounts sid all the time as well as Sid mounting her. When the 2 eggs broke there was red veins through one of them, is that a sign that it was fertile? And lastly - Kiwi is laying on them about 50% of the time now there are 4 eggs in the nest Over to you guys - any ideas?!

you must have hemaphrodite birds! ROFL!!! Lol, I'm sorry, that just really got me. I'm thinking that red veins in the egg would indicate fertility, if the egg was starting to develop, but me knowing next to nothing about kaks, (especially gender confused ones) I'm pretty confused with the situation.

Oh well - they're both healthy and really happy so I'll just go with the flow. Trust me to have 2 birds that are an 'exception to the rules'

Can you get gay birds?? Forgive the bluntness, I just wonder as I'm pretty sure my pigeons, Butthead and Airbus, are totally smitten with each other and they're both male! Lol!
Poor confused birdies!! Hehehe! Hearing about Sid does make me laugh!
I should just mention, the guy who owned Sid and his original mate before me did say they'd bred but didn't tell me which was male and which was female. Sid's a mystery! #cheesy#
