He's a real sweet pea, never bitten me. He cant go on getting fat though, not good, his flying is getting quite an effort for him. None of the others are like it, so i guess hes just got lazy. I wondered if i change perches around, take some out, so he has to fly from one end to the other, it might help.

aawwwww bless him!! another tubby sherby in the making lol. the way i got him to fly more and lose some weight was to put him up one end of the room with his fav treat (normally brocolli) let him eat a bit, then take him the other end so he has to fly back. did this a good 5 or 6 times a day and started to notice an improvement within a week! sounds cruel i know, but works lol.

LOL!! you wouldnt say that if you'd met sherby at his fattest, he looked more like a fluffy pom pom with a beak rather than a budgie #norty# he still has a "weight issue" but at his age he's allowed to be a bit porky lol

perhaps ill bring him indoors and chase him round the house for a week ;D Tonight when i came home they were all flying around while William was being his normal perch 'potato'ness As for Sherby, considering his age, and podgeyness, hes pretty amazing!

Think bringing him inside would be the way to go. Some of mine would sit on the same perch all day long except to eat and drink. I figured a tough place to put their food up near the roof away from the wire and they all had to fly to get it. The fat ones trimmed down with the enforced exercise - the others loved it as they played acrobat!

Well after seeing him his normal perch potato, and picking him up, i bought him indoors, and he had a couple of flights around the room, and then was sick! I think that shows with the stress of flying, and possibly a bit frightened being indoors, he really is a podge. Not good at all!, but hes got lovely soft feathers. Anyone like to guess his weight, hes an english budgie, with no ribs (i cannot feel them ) Guess Williams weight... ;D
