Aww, thanks guys! I've gone all proud and big headed now! LOL! ;D
Skyfeather - I love your owl finchs in your signature! I've always wanted some of them. I found some in a local pet shop last year but they were £120!! *GASP!!* My measly pitance doesn't stretch that far! The pet shops here are terribly over-priced. It's the curse of living on an island... where else are we going to go!!

Thanks George....I LOVE my Owl finches too! There is an Owl breeder about a 40 minute drive away from me so I was lucky! The proven pair cost me $175.00....not sure what that converts to in pounds. But they can be pricey. What I paid is on the low end of price....I know of others in the US that have paid much more. I hope to try to breed them come spring. They have already raised a clutch with the breeder so they are somewhat experienced. Owls are tough to breed and raise babies as they tend to toss the eggs or babies if the least bit stressed out. So being I have never tried to breed finches yet....I hope I will have a good experience when I breed them.

I think that was a pair but actually, now I think about it, the sign just said "owl finchs - £120" so maybe it could of been each! Nahhhhh, that's extreme even for the island!! Must of been a pair.
I'm liking the sound of your new year plan! I'll be there with bells on if we can get that organised! ;D

Bad news - my little fawn zebby has died I found him on the floor this morning. His beak had healed up a treat too. We've had this "White Air" extrme sports thingy on just down the road and the Red Arrow planes have been over twice this weekend. I think the noise must of shocked him because he was perfectly healthy otherwise. *sigh* Here's a picture of the cute little guys pre-tragedy - And look how well his little beak was doing - On the plus side, the other two are doing fine. Although baby bengalese/mannikin seems to be having trouble balancing.

It's part and parcel of owning little birds really isn't it? They seem to love to die I really liked the fawn one too! Oh well, these things happen I guess. I won't let it get me down for too long though, I think I'm a bit hardened to it after all the years I've been keeping them.

It's an awful feeling though, I feel as if I should be more upset! I get that stomach turning feeling when I see something's died, and then I very uncerimoniously picked him up by his tail and popped him in the middle of the bonfire pile. And I know that seems harsh but I tend to burn the bodies if I can otherwise 1- I run out of space to bury things and 2- I get insanely worried about digging them back up when I'm gardening. I am mean aren't I?? BOOOOO!

Why is worrying about digging them back up again mean? You're too hard on yourself! (hug) When I depart this earth I want to be cremated, it's pretty much the same thing is it not? You have other birds to consider and you shouldn't feel guilty about not feeling too sad or 'mourning' enough
