KIWI---Sorry it took so long to reply....we have been "on the road" for a few days. Safara is of African origin (like the Sengal parrot) and means "Fire". It looks like Safara has flames on his chest so that is why I chose the name. I always wanted a car with flames on it but I will settle for a bird with flames instead...lol. Safara has a wonderful personality! He is very quiet most of the time and is just happy to watch what is going on. He is very sweet and friendly and is just starting to talk up a storm. And he will eat just about anything I give him. And I can see I will need to buy a lot more Lumber as he really shreds up the popsicle sticks I have been giving him. He has this intense stare like he is analyzing you. And every once in a while he just goes bonkers....as if he sees a ghost or something which is a typical trait of Senegals. Fortunally it doesn't happen very often.
