my new baby is still on 3 times a day feeding and is not ready to come to his new home. I am really dissapointed as I thought he would be ready for me this weekend coming up. He was hatched July 15th

I know its difficult to be patient when your excited to go get your new baby, but depending on variety of Parrot/Bird-most dont wean completely from forumla between 8-18 weeks - depending on how large a bird your getting- that would be well into October..as a breeder myself I always tell everyone the projected day of weaning will in advance to the baby actually weaning, that way if they are able to come get it early, its a bonus..you dont want a baby thats been force weaned..it needs to know how to eat on own & be able to do all the big bird things to avoid falls & a sickly baby...much higher cost to you, vet bills & heartache..you probably posted what kind of bird your getting but I have been swamped around here with stuff & frends visiting from out of town sorry I am assuming its a smaller bird 10 weeks today actually lol congratulations!! if its a smaller bird..it will probably be weaning good & doing everything on its own within a week or 2..kind of depends on the breeder not everyone provides for teaching their babies how to perch, step up & stuff..all I can say is ask lots of questions from the breeder about yor baby, has he learned to do this & that, can he make it on his own ect ect.. well before you bring him home.
