I am sharing a couple pictures of the new puppy that my daughter "adopted" that came into her clinic a couple days ago (she is a small animal Vet). The owners said the puppy was on the bed and they shooed him off and somehow he broke his elbow. My daughter could tell the puppy had evidence of abuse because of they type of injury it was. But the owners didn't want to pay the cost of repairing the leg (which would have cost $2,500.00 and had to be done by an orthopedic Vet) so they surrendered the dog to the clinic which would have meant it would be put down. My daughter fell in love with the puppy and just couldn't let that happen so she decided to adopt the puppy....who is part Newfoundland and part ??....and she took him to be mended by a colleague. He only charged her $1,000.00 for the operation. Still a lot of money but a good savings from the original price. I am not a Grandma to human kids yet....so I am bragging about my new "GrandFid". I am grandma to her 4 budgies too. ;D Here are the pictures of "Porter"...he is such a little cutie pie! Thanks for looking!

He looks like he is going to be a big cute boy! How big is he now? I just don't understand people that do things like that. It just takes a sick mind. At least they brought him in though... some people don't.

Such an adorable little puppy. I agree with everyone else here on how anyone could hurt such a sweet natured boy. I wish that the full penalty of animal cruelty would stick instead of abusers getting off 99.9% of the time with a slap on the wrist. The abused animals don't get off that lightly. Anyway, hope the little fella has a speedy recovery.

People who abuse animals make me sick. I agree with what Tasha said, the animals have to feel the pain and recover. What a cute little boy though!

Thanks for all the kind replies everybody. Animal abuse makes me sick to think about it too. I found out there was more to the story of the puppy's owners. They did have the mother of the puppy but shot it and another puppy because they didn't want to deal with all the dogs and just kept "Porter". So Porter breaking his leg and having to come in was a good thing for him. I am surprised the previous owners didn't just take him home and shoot him. They were probably afraid my daughter would have turned them in for animal abuse so gave him up. My daughter and her hubby are going to have the genetic testing done so they will know just exactly what breed mix the puppy is. It will take about a month to get the results. I am curious to know what he is too!
