Well the lutino chicks are going great. Such cute little rascals. They had their first taste of fresh corn yesterday. I put a small amount in with them and they have been picking at it randomly throughout the day. Will soon give them small amounts of other fruit and try them with pellets and soaked seed soon.
Green IRN chicks....
I have just removed them from the nest this morning to raise. I was going to let mumma do the job but decided to give her a rest and I will finish the job. The already have their green feathers showing through. They have grown so much in the last few days to when I last checked them. Might be a bit harder battle to get them to eat for me. Will see how I go.
WBoy and his girl......
They had 4 eggs and 1 chick hatched on Sunday sometime. Unfortunately when I went to check in the nest, the little one hadn't made it, was already gone in nestbox.
I grabbed him and brought him inside to see if I could revive him with heat, (didn't hold much hope as he was fairly past it ) But unfortunately it was not to be. Don't know what happened to him. He wasn't attacked or looked damaged in any way. Maybe he just wasn't meant to be here at this time.
I kept checking the box yesterday incase it was something the parents may have done, (although I didn't think so, just being cautious), and another little one hatched while I was at work. I saw him and held my breath until I saw movement! Whew, there was. I gave him a very quick look over and all seemed well with him. I haven't been able to check the boxes this morning as it has been 1 storm after another here. I had to run out inbetween rain to get the greenies lol Hope to get a look in sometime today.
The next update is on the Sky hen and her 3 eggs. She may have a chick today as she was only a day or 2 behind the above mentioned hen.
Nothing when I checked yesterday, but again the rain has stopped me from checking this morning. I think 1 of the 3 eggs may have been broken or cracked a few weeks ago. I didn't want to do to much disturbing and check so left mumma to it. So I am only expecting 2 chicks from her this time......but will gladly accept 3!!!!
Last on the list is the Rainbow Lories. The 2 eggs had successfully hatched and the chicks are around 8 days old. Looking very good to when I checked yesterday.
Will try and get pics of all the bubs. Time is slowly slipping away from me between work, bubs, pets, and all the other chores like work and housework etc..... oh and the interent!
So that's about all the news from my end at the moment.
Will keep you all updated.
