At what age do kak's have their 1st molt? the reason i ask is because i've noticed quite a few small feathers in and around bryns cage over last 2-3 days and there isn't normally any and neither me or hubby have seen any plucking going on. thanks in advance x

Hi Cara - how is the gorgeous Bryn? They are constantly moulting to some extent, they have 2 major moults per year but the time of year can vary dependant on breed/species. Meg has just finshed one - she's a brown headed parrot. Alfie seems to be constantly moulting but has just started a major moult. The Kak are just showing signs of moulting and Blu is just out of one. So to say the least it's a bit confussing but perfectly natural if they moult at any time of the year

Ah yes - they do get a bit grumpy when they are in moult, poor babies get quite itchy. Just make sure he gets plenty of baths and maybe if you can source some easily, add a little Aloe Vera to his bath water, helps soften up those prickly pins feathers. So glad he's doing ok

I know! I'm going to miss them sooo much! Dink's going to live with Debbie, Sal's having one of the little hens, a friend from work's having another one and I'm keeping the doo-lally one. So that leaves me with a spare one! If I can't find her a home I might keep her and get her a mate. I don't think I'll breed from Pierre and Fifi again as I suspect they may be related or something as I've had a couple of doo-lally babies now! They're ever so cute but they're obviously not quite right. Bless them.
