Lol you guys! He did keep displaying at me, he'd throw his head back and make sort of catty hissy noises at me. I thought he was angry at first! Laurie - get a finch avairy! They're so fun to watch, and they never stop moving. If I'm honest, I much prefer finches to parrot type birds. I have quail too, they're funny aren't they! I might have to go back soon and see if he'll fit in my handbag

George I used to have a huge finch aviary in Oregon, complete with Button Quail, omgoodness I loved the lil darlings..they just sing there lil songs..lol whats funny is when they would land on me lol they loved there mealie worms & they would eat them out of my hands, well I was the perch & bowl & they used me as there table & toilet Chantell (my daughter) is wanting some exotic finches so baddly she cannot stand it..she has her list of birds that will coexist happily, yet the only ones everyone has around here are zebras..there is one fellow that raises the more exciting color mutations of zebras in Louisanna..but here unfortunately the only thing I can do is go to a pet store in Louisville,KY (my state) and order them, but the store is absolutely FILTHY! he should be shut down PERIOD!..((I just really wanna move back to Oregon)) where my connections to cool birds ABOUND! grrr

I'm often a perch, bowl table and toilet too! Lol! I wouldn't have it any other way though! Since we moved, my birds have been in cages and I hate it. I hate not being able to get in there with them. I've got a new shed on the way so hopefully they'll be a new avairy following. My quails are in a big wooden cage on the floor of my current shed and Thistle (my rabbit) chewed the hook off the door the other day so there were quail all over the shed! I just herded them back up with some well placed mealworms. They're so daft, I love them!
Do you have a local classified adverts paper or anything? There may well be some private breeders near you that you haven't found out about yet. I'd be surprised if they weren't any. I really hope you find some and don't have to go to the grotty pet shop!

I love that bird, he is so unusual. Never seen one before - or heard of one for that matter. Looks like it may be distantly related to the peacock?

there are so many lovely mutations & variety of this gorgeous bird.. unfortunately for me BUT LUCKY FOR YOU ALL! most the breeders are over by you guys...over seas...so far out west where I am trying to get moved back to is where they are..theres aviary in California that has them & it looks like they have good breeder credentials! I just may have to ship me some, which will cause me to need a stiff drink since I worry so bad...j/k. but I showed my daughter & she was tickled to deatha t the thought of getting a pair. george look at this site! www.turacos.org/whitecheekedextra.htmheres the place I am thinking of going through members.aol.com/DLAviaries/ouraviaries.html I am still looking & reading but I actually found the picture I seen years ago & forgot to save it!!
