Wow, I'm glad that Harry is doing so well... even if his "landings" are a little rough. ;D Hope Minty starts settling down and being happier soon. On the subject of molting... poor Jasper is going through that right now, shedding feathers right and left. He's more hyper than I've ever seen him too, can't seem to sit still at all and looks pretty sad.

Well Harry astonded everyone the other day. I brought him out for a fly and he flew around the corner to land in the dining room with DH! Now DH isn't that interested in the birds, but he put his hand out to Harry to see what he would do and Harry stepped up on to hubbies hand it was a first for both of them! Harry didn't stay long and came back into the living room, tried to land on the coffee table and skidded across it to splat off the other side. I put him back in the cage, he was a bit shakie but unhurt...good job he has his own air bag (chunk). Yesterday he managed to swerve! He flew off me and at the wall, but swerved to miss it. Rubbish on the landing STILL! You would think a nice BIG SOFT sofa would be a better bet wouldn't you DOH. Bless him Billie

Hi All Well I think Harry is getting the hang of this flying lark. My theory is to get him to fly across the room twice then I'll put him back in the cage. He was much better about being picked up today, he stepped on to my hand and didn't get too narky about my thumb being over his back so he didn't fly too soon. As soon as I moved my hand a bit he was off, he flew well and skidded on the floor landing. He was keen to step up and finally flew across the room to land on the sofa AT LAST I helped him up to sit on the door for a rest then helped him back into the cage. What a star. He even looked like he might have enjoyed his fly Are you board of these daily updates yet? There will be a gap for a couple of weeks as DH is pinching my computer! Hugs Billie

Hi Sal
Sorry for the lack of updates, we went a way for a week or so and they were left in the very capable hands of our neighbours.
Harry has been out three times since. He is getting much better about being picked up to come out. He gives a token attempt and disgust about being picked up then just gives up and steps on to my hand. I cover his shoulders while I take him to the other side of the room and he is much better about it now.
Well he made it to the sofa ok, flew at the cage door! and had a run round so its all good really. I don't bring Tiny out anymore though as he gets very upset about being handled then flies like a missile around the room. I'm worried he will prang into something. At least harry only flies 2 foot off the floor and only for short bursts.
They have been very sad though without the girls around. They do their own things seperately. Eat and sleep mainly, when we were away I made sure there was a radio on during the day, so there was gently noise (Classic FM) and there is some talking in the station so they wouldn't feel the house was too quiet. I find if I put the radio on they all perk up and chatter happily, but go to sleep if I turn it off...Radio controlled budgies eh!
Hugs

Oooh do you think i could control the children like that? Radio on you can play and make noise - radio off you shut up and go to sleep.... dont think thats gonna happen lol. Im so glad he is doing well ;D Poor Tiny, he is such a little stress-budgie. I'm getting so birdie-broody at the moment, and its now the school summer holidays... i might just have to take the children for a trip to Enfield Did you have a nice holiday? I bet the brids were spoilt rotten by your neighbour while you were away ;D

Hi Sal
Had a great holiday thanks, birdies were on strict 'as normal' diet, given how Tiny will throw up soon as look at you. Neighbour was worried about looking after him, but I said if he throws up just keep an eye on him. He tends to look thoroughly miserable for about three days then bounces around just fine.
Birdies were all in fine feather and looking glorious when we got home. Treated me with deep suspicion for about three days then were fine. Day four of being home they are promptly moulting again! Hrumf.

Hi All Just to let you know Harry has been out for a fly today and flew from the arm of the armchair to the seat of the sofa yey!!!! Really convincing fly and a soft landing for once. Harry's getting the hang of this. I held my hand out for him to step up..intending to take him across the room for a second fly, but instead Harry took his moment and flew back in to the cage I put my hand in to help him up, and Tiny was next to him on the perch, they both stepped on my arm so I took my hand out of the cage. Tiny flew straight back in followed by Harry. Tiny has been sitting there preening Harry a lot today. I must get a picture, Harry is having a bad feather day and has a group of sticking out feathers above his cere. He looks like he's got giant moth antena! Poor little Minty is still trying to feed the perches and swing, the other two are not interested Hugs Billie

Hi All Just to let you know Harry is still having flying lessons, his flying is improving but his landings need a lot of work DOH! Tiny, Minty and Harry are moulting at the moment so I'm letting them rest up and grow in their new feathers. Hugs Billie

Hi Everyone Harry is coming on leaps & bounds. His flying skills are improving, he can stear and has made it several feet into the air. On a good day he can now fly from the arm of the chair to the cage bless him. Its doing him good as well, in June Harry weighed in at 84 grams! at the end of October he weighs 80 grams. I should say he is twice the size of the other birds, but still has a big belly on him. He is much happier in himself and is a different bird in the cage, he's gone from the quiet one to just as loud and boisterious as the others. Best of all is Minty, he's cheered up at last. He's been so sad and depressed since Sky died in June but in the last week he's finished his moult, looks gorgeos and his cere is blue again I'm so glad he's happy again, its been heart breaking watching him being sad and not being able to help. Hugs Billie
