Hello,
I have a cute little diamond dove and I have had her for nearly a year now. But she's so scared of me and everything around her. I'm surprised she hasn't died of fright yet. Everyday is like a waking nightmare for her. I've gotten to the point where I try to avoid her. She freaks out every time I get near the cage. She freaks out if I even look at her from across the room. Changing her food is scary because she flys around her cage and hurts herself. Just today she got a wound on her wing! I have clipped her wings in the past, but that doesn't seem to help much. I thought that she might need some private place for her to hide, so I got her a wooden box with a hole in it. I left it in the cage for 2 months... She stayed as far away from it as possible. I just don't know what to do. I'm afraid she's going to live her entire life being afraid.
There is one thing that makes her calm down. If I play videos of Diamond Doves on youtube. The sounds seem to calm her down. She never sings though. She used to sing in the mornings, but she stopped about 3 months ago =(.
I hope someone might be able to help. She's such a sweet little thing. I want her to be happy.
