Well, tomorrow is cleaning day again. I can't go out and buy a net from the store between today and tomorrow, so i'm going to need some help from you. I'd like to see some videos of you catching one of your more un-tame budgies. If it can be without a net, i'd be better. Thanks you again for all of your help!

I'm afraid I can' t help you that way, Blaine. I have a large outdoor aviary, and the only way to catch my budgies is with a long handled net. It is already dark, too, so I can't rile them up to take a video now. Sorry, wish I could help more.

It's alright, thanks anyway.
Well, i've been reading some budgie taming guides. A lot of them said to start feeding treats through the cage bars. I tried, and after 10 minutes of waiting Juniper took a bite! It's a start. If I can get him to come to millet I can open the cage door and make a landing type thing. Then I can put the millet on it, and hopefully he'll come. Maybe sometime I can get him to go further.

thats a good idea Blaine, and you can buy landing platforms, that just clip on. Or perhaps clip a perch outside.

I got through the cleaning. It was actually the best cleaning i've ever done. Juniper was in the cage the whole time, but he didn't even move an inch. I moved some stuff around, changed the newspaper at the bottom of the cage, and wiped the bars of the cage down with spray. I think i'm making progress. Now, Juniper will eat the millet with the cage door open and me holding it. He'll even eat it with me holding it 3 inches away from him. I've even gotten him to move about an inch of to the side. I'll move the millet and he moves with it. It's really cute to watch.

Sounds like you are making progress. The trick is not to expect him to become tame in just a few weeks. The last time I had to tame an untame bird it took 2 months of slow movements and letting her maike all the moves. She ended up super tame and loving.

Ok. Thanks for all of your help.
I've been moving the cage close to my bed during the nights. Juniper seems a bit less jumpy now.

I have amazing news! First, I gave Juniper millet as usual. As he went further down the twig I didn't move my hand. Eventually he ate millet so close to my hand he bumped it every time he took a bite! Then, he bit my finger slightly. I think he thought it was millet. It was so cute! Then, the millet dropped and there was some seeds on my hand. He the ate the seeds right out of my hand! It was amazing! After a while I put the miller on my hand and gradually moved it further until he had to move to eat. My hands gently slid under hos head. I touched Juniper and slowly started to pet him! He didn't move one bit! He just kept on eating the millet! I moved further down to his stomach. He got a bit scared and stopped eating, so I stopped for now. I was just amazed that he ate out of my hand, and even better, let me pet him!!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry, I'm just very hyper!

That is great Blaine! That's the way to a birds heart: their stomach. (just kidding ) I'm excited to hear things are going well, I just have one word of advice. If Juniper gets scared, back off for a little bit. It is really easy to get excited and go too fast, and then have to start over. I've made that mistake before. But all that behind, congrats!

That is wonderful news Blaine! There is nothing quite like getting a bird to trust you. Him eating from your hand is a very positive step in the taming process. Like Budgiebuddy said - don't move too fast or get too excited as you may have to start over again.

I can catch my untamed Budgie.
But then again that's because it can't fly because he bent his tail.
