keep going with juniper blaine. The only way he will get used to you is if you keep putting your hand in the cage. Even if you stick your finger flat under his belly if he will let you for a couple of seconds each time and teach him to step up on your finger. Always say step up so he will get used to the command.
I taught my alexandrine to step up, and everytime you put your finger under him, he will automatically say "step up" lol. Hes learnt to say it himsellf.

lol. I'll keep trying. Mainly i'm just petting his tail and lower wing feathers, and if i'm lucky, his stomach. After he's fully used to my hand i'll work on picking him up and step-up training. Thanks for all the help onece again. I really do appreciate it.

One very pretty budgie! Is the rash still there? One thing if it's a scaley type problem, you'll need to rub baby oil into the leg twice a day - this will mean grabbing the bird (which will put training back to the start) but it is the best way. A word of advice - when you pick the bird up use a pair of gloves as a budgie's bite when it's scared is extremely painful.

are Junipers wings clipped blaine? maybe if you clip one he will be easier to train. They grow back quick enough.

They're already clipped. He can still fly around pretty easily though. He can't fly around for long. He can fly long enough to get out of the cage, which is what worries me.
Yes, the rash is still there. Thanks for the advice. Occasionally Juniper will let me touch his feet. I think i'll try to rub some without picking him up.

have you got anything that juniper likes as his favourite food yet? My little guys love millet spray, so maybe if you have something like that or celery leaves which they love you can be holding that in one hand and bribing him with it.

No favorite foods yet. He likes millet, but he hasn't tried enough foods to really get a fav yet.
I entered my room today and Juniper was chirping up a storm. I think he heard the bird outside. (there was a bird outside our house making quite a racket)

I trusted this hen not to bite so I had her in a loose grip in this pic: This was a stronger grip as she was a biter but also squirmed alot:

Good advice for me as well... I usually use the first grip with a washcloth, and wrap my fingers around farther, but the cloth is a pain. How do you keep from getting bitten with the second?

I think to start off i'll use the second grip just to make sure. If he's a little more relaxed and not trying to bite than i'll use the first grip the next time. Thanks.

I don't know. Juniper has only bit me once, it barely even a touch. I think it might be that males don't bite as much.
By the way, I love your Cockatiels Tigger!
I'm still very nervous about picking Juniper up on Sunday. I know what to do, I just don't want Juniper escaping.
I have another question. What breeds of birds can you put in a cage with budgies?
