Kiwi has been missing Kiki to the extent where at one point he wouldnt even eat
we have now put him in a smaller cage so he can sit on our level right next to the sofa and the extra company and attention seems to be working at the moment. He's eating again and doesnt call for her quite so much. This morning he even asked for a bit of my toast!! So hopefully my little boy is starting to get back to his normal cheeky self
crossed fingers he carries on improving! cos the vets idea of helping him was to put him down that aint gonna happen!! Granted, he was very depressed and not doing himself much good, but wouldnt you be if you just lost your solemate? I wasnt impressed, jon thought i was gonna thump him lol
Anyway, thats the story so far.... hopefully i can be even more positive next time
I did very well to hold back karen, if jon wasnt holding my hand so tight i would have given him a "sally right hook"!
he's doing a bit better each day now, we got him to eat some berries its his fav treat but before yesterday would touch them - this morning while he thought i wasnt looking i saw him nibble at a few so i think the worse is over and crossed fingers he will keep on improving
jon nearly finished my avairy and we plan on getting a few pairs for it when i say "we" i mean the royal "we" lol i havent told him what i want to put in it yet #norty# but you all know he wont say no to more kaks
he's doing really well all of a sudden he still calls for Kiki and will still check she's not hiding in Mia's toybox as soon as he is let out for a fly but after the first 5 mins he stops looking and starts playing - YAY!!! it feels like its been a long time since i saw him play so we are really proud of him
for those that know about kiwi will know that he is not a cuddly birdie, he likes attention if he decides he is going to let us give him some and loves lots of kisses but apart from that a very playful bird. well..... the other day on one of his marathon flight times (i feel guilty putting him back in now he is on his own so he's normally out most of the day) mia let him out the lounge while i was putting some washing away upstairs and he came up to find me. i was just in the middle of telling him what a naughty boy he was and asking him "how do you expect me to get you back down now??!" and he jumped on my shoulder so i walked down the stairs with him, got to the lounge door..... and he flew back up #rolleyes# we did this an extra 9 times and im sure he enjoyed EVERY minute of it! then finally he let me bring him back in again with a very smug look on his face.
well anyway (karen this bit will make you laugh!) when jon came home from work i told him about our "fun" day and he decided it was only because he ended up somewhere he didnt recognise and he wouldnt sit on me on cue when in here (lounge) so i let him out again.... he landed on his fav place - the telly - i walked over to him and said "show daddy who's your favorite" and he jumped on! hehe jon's face was a picture!!! now the REALLY funny bit is, that when he'd had enough and flew off back to his widescreen perch, jon walked over to him to speak sweetly to him and all he got was kisses - no cuddles!! he spent nearly half an hour trying to coax him into giving him a cuddle but kiwi being the pig ignorant kiwi we love was his usual stubborn self and having none of it! i havent laughed SO much in what feels like months!!!
sorry for being long winded, but thought you'd enjoy that one lol
Good boy Kiwi! lol I would have loved to have seen Jon's face! Priceless. I bet you were stuffed chasing around after Kiwi to have go back again. hehe can just imagine a puffed Sal (prolly coz she still ain't give up the cigs yet!) with a ball of yellow almost back in cage and round 2! round 3! hehe
So Jon, is the aviary finished yet? We must have some breeding Kakariki on this board!
