OMG HELP He's vomited twice (jiggled his head up and down, and expelled a liquid that looks exactly like lorikeet poo) and is sneezing. I called the owner and she said that it's normal for them to vomit when they're first taken home (IS IT? ) and that he sneezes all the time (this can't be good?!) I'm really freaking out here. Other than that he's quite calm but I'm still worried about his health. It's night on a weekend now and the vet wouldn't be here, so I'm counting on you guys (and google). Thanks!

Hi there - not sure if this will help, but I've googled my socks off and this seems to have quite a bit of info on it. www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=15&cat=1829&articleid=2418It might possibly be something as simple at travel sickness, but it's definitely best to get him to a vet asap just to be on the safe side. Hope he improves soon.

When I had my Rainbow Lorikeet Bo, she had a vomiting attack & I took her to the vet & when he examined her he found she had a hard mass in her stomach. He said this is normal for Lorikeets especially if the eat too much seed and it will clear up in a few days. He was right it did. Don't worry about the sneezing. Everyone sneezes! It's just dust or pollen or whatever. My Boris waits until I'm about to give her a kiss on the beak & then sneezes in my face!

Hey, sorry I tried to post yesterday but the Internet's been acting up. He hasn't vomited since, but is still sneezing. We'll be taking him to the vet tomorrow so he'll get a full check-up.

hope yogie is ok. harriette sneezes as well. but not often. Maybe yogie has eaten something that hasnt agreed with him. still take him to the vet and see what he says. It could be change of diet from the original owner as well and is still getting used to it.

I'll be leaving in an hour, and I'm wondering how we'll go getting him into the cat carrier. Yogie is very picky, and doesn't really like it when people put their hands in his cage (unless the hand is holding native flowers!) He's getting better though.
I get the feeling that Yogie was under-fed by his previous owner. Before his droppings were tiny and didn't contain any solid bits - it was just a little squirt of brown liquid. But after a couple of days of feeding him a very varied diet, his droppings are larger and more normal-looking.

UPDATE:
I took him to the vet and Yogie is perfectly healthy! He had his wings slightly clipped, and they took a feather for DNA testing. The vet thought the sneezing was fine. I'm really relieved!

That is good news! Liquid poos are norman for lorikeets - if they were solid, that would be abnormal.
