Hi there Welcome to the boards!! The Karma was something I kinda figure out on my own as a I am a newbie myself you can give a person negative or positive karma once each day..if a person you think is deserving of either, you either hit the + for positive or - for negative (someone would have to be a real bugger for that one lol) if something is helpful/moving/or inspiring I always give karma points to those that are deserving in my book, by a post, deed, ect ect..I hope that helps lol sometimes I tend to drift LOL! theres others here that can either tell you OR ME!! hehe if I am wrong!

Hi Luck welcome to the forum, good to have you here Whats bird/s do you have? We'd love to hear about yourself and any feathered friends you have Laurie is exactly right with the Karma button, if you feel someone has helped you or just made you smile then you can give them Karma. I've just given you your first one to welcome you

Thanks everyone ;D I tried to give you all karma but apparently I can do it only once an hour so it'll take awhile. I have a cockatiel named Lucky Bird I know it seems like everyone has a pet named lucky for some reason or another but oh well.Anyways anyone have any advice to get him to stop biting? He only bites fingers like when I put my finger fo him to hop on but he bites really hard every time but other than that theres no problem he just perches on my shoulder or walks around on the couch etc

G'day Luck Welcome to Bird Crazy. I've got a problem biter - my mums peachface actually, bites everyone except mum. I've tried not reacting when he bites but this can be difficult as it hurts! I find if I don't react the bite isn't quite as bad. My pet budgie actually stops biting me when I don't react, she turns it into a preen!

As Karen said it's best to not react, hard as it is though when they bite hard! You could also try firmly and confidently (don't talk to him while you're doing this) put him back in his cage every time he does this, he'll start to associate bad behaviour with being put back in his cage. Also Scully advised someone a while back to put their bird on the floor and walk away every time they bite, this is a sign of dominance over your bird and a big message to it that you will not tolerate that kind of behaviour. Lastly - always reward your bird when they are behaving and withdraw all treats if they are not.

Wow Debbie, I'm sure I learn something new every time I log on here from you... I'm going to try putting Ivy on the floor when she starts screaming..... must be worth a try!! Luckily, she doesn't bite. Not that it would hurt with her rubbish beak! I wouldn't have a clue how to stop biting. But thats great advice. Good luck teaching Lucky not to bite! Hope it works out, cockatiels hurt!!
