Howdy.
Ever hear of friends or family that need bird boarding - bird sitting?
The idea came to mind that it would be a good at home thing for my wife to do if there is a demand for it.
We have birds of our own, ranging from African grey, to blue and gold Macaw, to green cheek conures.
My own work is pruning and stuff. But I added a webpage for my wife for the bird boarding to see how that goes.
Just one or two inquiries so far.
I'm guessing this could take months to get off the ground.

Wow, good luck with the bird boarding! I've thought about giving that a try before... it'd be an excuse to have more birds in the house! You obviously are an experienced bird keeper, so you probably have already thought about this, but keep in mind the danger from spreading diseases around from boarded birds to your own and vice versa. There are many viruses etc, that don't show up in the "carrier" but can be dangerous to others. There are a lot of precautions that can be taken, but it is still a risk, even if you keep the birds in different parts of the house.

Yes really use the good old F10 and strict quarantine procedures.
I wouldn't let a bird in the house unless they have been tested for all diseases.
Cheers,
Kate

Sometimes trying to start something is the best way to see the variables come flooding in. So we paused this adventure for now. We learned that the hurdles became too many when a quaint part time bit of work is the desired goal.
In fact, my wife has fibromyalgia, and we concluded that even our own birds have become more than she can keep up with, for them to get the attention they need.
Our birds are not neglected, but we think it's time to find wonderful new homes for them now, instead of waiting a few years.
Gizmo - my bird - would be one of them critters to need a new home. He used to be my son's bird, but he lost interest in birds. So I started handling Gizmo, and he is fond of me. We got Gidgegette a female and they have bonded. Gidgette will stand on a finger or hand, but Gizmo is the one that will recline in a hand like an easy chair.
We are considering the bird Rescue place in Eugene, due to the diligence and reputation they have.
This will probably be easier for the birds than us. I was feeling very sad at the thought the past couple of days. But it is the best decision. And I'm certain that the birds can get even more attention than now. They still have it pretty good though.
