Hi i'm planing on getting a female cinnamon green cheek conure on the 29th of march, The conure is 6 months old is this too old for the bird to bond to me? if not how long will it take for the bird to bond? She is hand raised. I will be picking her up on our move to another town. So it could be a while before pictures arrive. Has anyone brought an older bird and have a strong bond between them? The guy who is selling her said she is very friendly you can hang her upside down pick her up in your hands, She loves her head stratchs and loves to sit on your shoulders.

You won't have any problems with her. She may be wary of you for the first week or two but when she decides that you aren't going to eat her, she will settle down. If she is a real people bird she may well be all over you right off the bat. Conures are gregarious birds and if she was well raised then yeah, she'll bond with you in no time. Especially if you bribe her. Don't feed sunflower seeds at all in her dish - use them as a training tool (unless of course you will feed her pellets but the sunflower seeds will still work).

I got my cinnamon green cheek conure when he was about 4 months old, and he bonded to me in a matter of days. I wouldn't think that another 2 months would make a big difference.
