hi, i am Twizle, married with 5 grown-up children and have just been made a grandma and proud! i have bred budgies and canaries in the past.and have always wanted an African grey parrot. but my husband wont let me. i have a few pets- -penny my dog and 11 chickens. my daughter had a budgie, but it died of a brain tumor bout 5 months ago and we miss him very much. i have been thinking about buying my daughter a parrot for her birthday as a surprise as she still misses her budgie very much. my husband and i are going to Dorset next week-coming home the day before her birthday, so i may look there for one-if i can persuade my hubby. hope to talk to some of you on here in the future as this looks to be a forum with lots of friendly advice.

Welcome to Bird Crazy Twizle! You will soon find that there is an infection running through the forum called MBS (Multiple Bird Syndrome) and I am afraid there is no known cure. We believe it may be spread via posts into people's eyes and straight to the brain where the compulsion to get 1 more bird becomes so irresistable that the longer you put it off the more the symptoms present. Symptoms include: * drooling over pictures of other peoples' fids * dreaming about the fid you want * waking up in the middle of the night crying out the name of your longed for fid, and the worst symptom: * absent mindedly feeding your family a bowl of seed instead of breakfast cereal. If any of these symptoms (there are others I haven't named) occur, you must immediately get onto a parrot breeder and purchase said bird. Then the symptoms completely disappear and you are back to "normal".

Then the symptoms completely disappear and you are back to "normal". Ummmm, this period of "normalness" usually only lasts a short while then MBS usually rears its glorious head again. Only time will tell when it's going to hit. BTW -- Welcome to our family!

Hi twizle. I would love an African Grey to. I will get one oneday. Just gotta 1) save money, 2) learn more about them, 3) save money. LOL Sorry about your poor budgie. I am sure you will have no trouble finding another feathery friend to welcome into your family. It's funny how when least expected, one just "jumps right out at you and steals your heart".
